Chicago, IL--In January of 2001, Chicago Reader music writer Peter Margasak wrote a great piece about the making of King of Bluegrass. In the article, Peter mentioned that I had already spent the $10,000 I had saved to make a film and had run up a mighty sum in terms of credit card debt. While I waited by the phone for some rich investor to come to my rescue, I got a cold call from Kathleen Dargis, a freelance editor who had recently moved back to Chicago after spending a few years in Australia.

Kathleen was intrigued by the article and wanted to learn more about the project. After a few meetings to discuss the direction of the film, Kathleen came on board as the film’s editor.

Kathleen brings a wealth of experience and a passion for documentary to the project. She has worked for over 10 years as an editor, both in the United States and in Australia. She has edited documentaries, short films, corporate videos, and music videos, and has worked with a wide variety of commercial production companies and independent producers.

Her favorite Jimmy Martin songs are 20/20 Vision and My Walking Shoes, though this is subject to change. To learn more about Kathleen’s work, visit her website at www.kathleendargis.com.
